Muslim leaders in Kilifi County have stepped up calls for the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) to immediately hold national elections. They asked the Registrar of Societies to intervene and urge the council to hold fresh elections to resolve the confusion that has plagued it since its disputed 2019 elections. Led by Ustadh Athman Ali Said, a former secretary to SUPKEM’s Malindi Branch, the leaders said it was a shame that affairs of the council had become the subject of a Parliamentary probe.
