A section of MPs from Nyeri and Nyandarua counties are accusing National Environment Management Authority NEMA for frustrating the construction of 4 billion shillings Maumau road interlinking the two counties. Led by Tetu MP Geoffrey Wandeto the MPs claim the Kenya National highway authority has withdrawn the tender for the construction of the road after the environment agency refused to issue a permit citing fragile ecosystem of aberdare forest where the road is supposed to pass.
