Women owned businesses in Kenya are set to benefit from an affordable finance solution following the launch of Ellevate by Ecobank Programme. Through the programme, Ecobank will allocate a minimum of 10% of it’s loan portfolio to women’s businesses. Speaking during the launch ,Ecobank Kenya’s Director of Consumer Banking Jane Jelagat said Ellevate is about offering financial and non-financial solutions that uplift women from one level to another in business. The bank says , women have not enjoyed equal access to high quality, demand driven financial services and it is estimated that women-owned SMEs in Africa face a US$42 billion financing gap, making lack of access to financing a common constraint to their business growth.
