Palm wine dealers in Kilifi County have called on the government to recognize their business and pump money into the coconut plant so that they can reap good returns.
The palm wine drink popularly known as m'nazi is a favorite alcoholic drink revered by the Mijikenda community along the coastal region and is used for various occasions ranging from blessings ceremonies, rituals, dowry negotiations and payment, and recreation drinks.
The dealers led by Alfred Chome claim that the important drink and coconut products have been neglected by successive governments and they now want leaders to factor it in their budgets.
