Maraga castigates govt for rushing CBE implementation

United green movement presidential aspirant David Maraga has castigated the government for the rushed implementation of the competency based education, which he says threaten to lock out millions of learners from accessing quality education. Maraga cited concerns raised by education stakeholders including the shortage of teachers, inadequate CBE infrastructure in senior schools, as well as the lack of school fees for thousands of learners still stuck at home. The former chief justice was speaking at a young aspirants training forum for the UGM party held in Kisumu. I saw in the papers the other day that they are saying, "look, this is like a pilot program."you'll get a few who will do very well. But what about the majority? Losing one is bad enough. So, it is the question of implementation and the government is totally ill prepared. The teachers, we all know and the teachers have said it. They are not prepared for this for this CBC or CBE program and that's why it is so haphazard
