Athletics Kenya has embarked on an ambitious plan to tap emerging talents from far flung counties like Garissa. AK has kicked off the process by holding a stakeholders’ forum in Garissa to map the way forward. The agenda centered on ways to promote athletics and discover talented youth from a young age. The region has been performing poorly in sports due a number of factors. Poor infrastructure, cultural barriers and harsh climatic conditions in the region have been cited as the major handicaps. The stakeholders agreed to involve parents and the government in the project.
