Drought threatens 2 million in northern Kenya, Red Cross warns

    Millions of Kenyans in six Counties in the north are in dire straits as the drought situation in the country gets worse. Although 23 counties have been adversely affected by the drought, Mandera County is the hardest hit, with Turkana, Marsabit, Wajir, Isiolo, and Garissa counties slipping into the red zone. According to the Kenya Red Cross Society, over 2 million people are facing starvation, with over 750,00 children malnourished. The humanitarian agency is reporting that approximately 2.1 billion Kenyan shillings are needed urgently for life-saving and long-term interventions.
