US to invest KSh 9.1B in Manda Bay airbase expansion

The United States has launched a 71 MILLION US DOLLAR, the equivalent of 9.1 billion Kenyan Shillings, military airport runway infrastructure project at Kenya’s Manda Bay Naval Base. A boost to regional security operations and a shift in Washington’s posture toward East Africa. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau arrived aboard a U.S. Air Force C‑130 to inaugurate construction of a new 3‑kilometer runway capable of handling heavy aircraft.
