Over 8000 young entrepreneurs from Kisumu, Siaya, and Homa Bay counties benefited from a 220 million shillings grant from the government under the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Fund. Speaking in Kisumu County during the disbursement of the first batch of the funds to the selected beneficiaries, President William Ruto affirmed that his government’s agenda on youth empowerment is solid. Ruto promised the youth access to government procurement opportunities, warning them against being duped by selfish cartels. Meanwhile, a new poll by the Infotrak Research firm has revealed that while 78% of Kenyans are aware of the Nyota Fund program, only 36% have benefited from it. More than half of Kenyans, 52% are yet to benefit.
