The government has announced new measures to address gender-based violence among athletes.
Speaking in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Gender and Culture Cabinet Secretary Ann Cheptumo said authorities, together with partners such as the UN and UNFPA, are strengthening awareness and policy frameworks.Kenya has lost several athletes to gender-based violence in the past five years, including former world champion Agnes Tirop, who was killed in October 2021.
