Mbeere North MP Leo Wa Muthende Njeru has secured a major legal victory after the High Court in Embu dismissed an election petition challenging his election. High Court judge Richard Mwongo struck out the petition after the petitioners failed to deposit the mandatory security for costs as required under Section 78 of the Elections Act. This even as a section of ward representatives in Busia hailed the appointment of Catherine Omanyo as acting ODM Secretary General to replace Edwin Sifuna.
