EU MP Pierre Larrouturou join climate activists at COP27 to push for debt cancellation for global South
In a rare show of solidarity, a member of the European Parliament Pierre Larrouturou joined a group of climate change activists at the COP27 at the Sharm El-Sheikh calling the rich nations to turn climate debt into climate action.
Mr Pierre said the global North has a greater responsibility to find solution to enable all people in the globe live with peace with the nature. He said Europe was the biggest emitter of CO2 and must find money for global South. He said North and South must work together to end the climate crisis. He said the global South cannot afford to wait for another 27 years to have solution to climate crisis and save humanity.
Regan Elijah climate justice activist from Uganda said debt cancellation should be top on the agenda of the COP27 agenda in addition to losses and damages.
