Residents near Malaba & Malakisi rivers counting loses

Residents living near the Malaba and Malakisi rivers in Teso North sub-county, Busia County, are counting losses after their crops were swept away by floodwaters following days of heavy rainfall in the region. The most affected areas include Amoni, Akiriamas and Akiriamasit, where homes and hundreds of acres of farmland have been destroyed .Locals are now appealing to the government for emergency assistance, including food supplies and construction of embankments to offer a long-term solution to the persistent flooding.
