Residents from Kibwezi sub-county want the government through the Kenya wildlife service to intervene and rescue them from wild animals, especially elephants. This is after an 80-year-old man from Ilikoni village was killed by an elephant. Cases of Human–wildlife conflict have been aggravated by the ongoing drought as animals tear through farmlands in search of pasture.
