Western Kenya region has overtaken Central Kenya in alcohol consumption, NACADA places Western Kenya at 23.8%. It is followed by the coast at 13.9%. Central Kenya has an alcoholism prevalence of 12.8%. The latest survey by the national authority for the campaign against alcohol and drug abuse says traditional brews are most prevalent in Western Kenya while portable spirits are more popular in Central Kenya. Children between the age of 6 and 8 are now being introduced to high-end alcohol and drugs.
