State completes post-mortem on bodies exhumed from Shakahola

The Government has done a cumulative of 338 postmortems on bodies believed to be victims of the Paul Mackenzie fasting like ritual that took place in Shakahola area of Kilifi County.

While issuing a statement on the final autopsy in phase three of post mortem, Government pathologists Johansen Oduor said that the entire Shakahola incident was a learning experience for homicide detectives, forensic experts and pathologists since no incident of such magnitude has ever occurred in the country before.

He added that on the final day his team conducted eight post mortem most of whose findings indicated starvation as the cause of death.

“Adults were seven while one was a child, three of them were male while five of them were female. Two had head injuries while three had starvation while we were unable to ascertain the cause of death due to decomposition.
