Ingenious Congolese refugee revolutionising the concept of bikes in Kenya

    Sibomana Athanase became a refugee in 1996 during the civil war in Congo that saw his family killed. He was taken to a camp in Rwanda. In 2016, he tried to go back to his home in Congo, but the war was still raging. He fled to Kenya and settled in Kayole as an urban refugee. One thing about Sibomana amid these difficulties is his talent. Sibomana now makes unique bikes in Kayole, using waste materials and metals. His bikes are so unique and as he says, no one else makes them around the world. He aims to fight environmental pollution by leveraging on cycling and use of electricity to power them.
