Poverty and drugs derail education in Kitale slums

High poverty levels and a lack of essential learning facilities have continued to undermine education in Kitale’s informal settlements, with stakeholders raising alarm over the growing menace of drug abuse. St Emmanuel Secondary School in Forkland slums is among the institutions struggling to keep learners in school, despite serving over 1,000 students from poor backgrounds.
