Liwatoni bridge closure challenges

The commissioning of the ksh 1.9 billion Mombasa Liwatoni floating bridge on December 10, 2020 by the Uhuru regime was a game changer in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 as well as easing congestion at the Likoni ferry channel. Two and a half years down the line, the unique floating bridge has been shut down, over what was termed as delaying the crossing of Cargo ships, exposing passengers and motorists back to heavy traffic at the Likoni ferry channel, with the government banking on the yet to be completed Dongo Kundu bypass to clear the mess.
