A Grade 5 pupil from Kapkulumben Primary School in Chepalungu, Bomet County, was tragically electrocuted on Tuesday evening, September 16, 2025. The boy, identified as ten-year-old Elisha Kiprotich, had reportedly climbed a wild fruit tree near his home when he came into contact with a live electric cable entangled in the branches. According to Cheleget Location Chief Daniel Tulmaat, the accident happened at around 4:00 p.m. as pupils were heading home from school, and Elisha died instantly after touching the live wires.
