Lecturers' strike halts learning in public universities

Learning in public universities has ground to a halt as lecturers and other staff downed their tools over non-payment of arrears accrued from two collective bargaining agreements from 2017 to 2025. The lecturers say the government has failed to pay them 10.63 billion shillings from two CBA cycles. The strike begins despite the government’s release of some 2.5 billion shillings as part of the settlement of those dues.
