Audit uncovers 50,000 ghost students in schools probe

More than 50,000 non-existent students have been fraudulently benefiting from government capitation funds, with each ghost student receiving KSh 16,000 yearly. Basic education principal secretary Julius Bitok says an ongoing audit has exposed inflated enrolment figures in secondary schools, pointing to a multi-billion shilling scam.
