Media industry players joined the world in marking the international day-to-end impunity against journalists. Industry players raised concerns over the rising culture of impunity against journalists including arbitrary arrests, intimidation by security agencies, and huge fines against media houses. According to the UNESCO Observatory of killed journalists, over 1,600 journalists have been killed around the world between 2006 and 2023. Nearly 90 percent of the killings remain judicially unresolved.
