The High Court has today declared the Housing Tax unconstitutional saying it lacks a comprehensive legal framework. Justices Lawrence Mugambi, Christine Meoli, and David Majanja said the housing tax is also discriminatory as it is discriminatory because it targets those in formal employment. The high court has however granted the government a stay on the orders until January 10, 2024, which means Kenyans will continue to be subjected to the housing tax unless there is a decision to the contrary.
