Anti graft watchdog EACC is set to conduct a headcount of staff in Siaya county on Thursday, as it steps up investigations in to the unprocedural issuance of employment letters to more than 500 doctors. According to preliminary investigations, the Siaya county public service board issued excessive employment letters, in spite of an initial request of 100 doctors from the county department of health. The officers are accused of having taken bribes of up to 350,000 shillings for each letter which was issued in 2023. Siaya senator Oburu Oginga had also raised concerns over the unprocedural issuance of letters
