As the world marks September’s Suicide Prevention Month, Chiromo Hospital Group has taken a bold step in the fight against mental health challenges by training over 100 church leaders from All Saints Cathedral and ACK Nairobi. The training, held at Chiromo Hospital Group Bustani, is a call to action for faith and medicine to unite in addressing stigma—a silent barrier that has for years denied many access to quality care.
Venerable Canon Perminus Muiru underscored the need for the church to collaborate with doctors, stressing that only through partnership can society dismantle the stereotypes that keep people from seeking help. Renowned psychiatrist Prof. Frank Njenga echoed this message, reminding participants that a healthy body and a healthy mind are inseparable—and together, they form the true foundation of a meaningful life.
With faith leaders now empowered to champion mental wellness, this initiative sends a clear message during Suicide Prevention Month that mental health is not just a medical concern, but a shared community mission.
