Raila hosts ceremony to honour his late father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga

Today marks thirty years since the demise of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, and a cross-section of leaders have showered him with praise during a memorial event at the Oginga Odinga Memorial Hall in Kisumu County. Many hailed him as an exemplary politician, one who detested tribalism and led policy-driven politics, putting the nation first rather than his personal interests. His son Raila Odinga recalled the passion he had to see the Kenyan youth educated.
