As Mombasa County grapples with an outbreak of the red eye or conjunctivitis disease, schools and madrassas have been identified as hot-points. The county government has to this end advised parents whose children are suffering from the condition to keep them home to avoid worsening the outbreak; the disease is thought to have spread from Tanzania, where over 800 cases have been reported.
