Standoff ensued at the offices of the supreme council of Kenya Muslims after the Yusuf Nzibo-led faction and his lawyers were denied access to the offices. According to Nzibo and his lawyers, the current national chairperson of the council Hassan Ole Nado should vacate office. The group claimed to have a high court order allowing Nzibo to occupy the offices but were denied access by police. In January, the high court issued an order freezing the council’s bank accounts, stopping the current office holders led by Hassan Ole Nado from transacting any business, further deepening the leadership tussle.
