The Kenya National Union of Teachers now wants the management of teachers' pensions removed from treasury. KNUT secretary General Collins Oyuu while appearing before the national assembly education committee called on lawmakers to amend the Teachers Service Commission Act to allow the commission to be in charge of disbursing pensions to retired teachers. The Union also wants parliament to revisit and consider a legislative proposal that sought to have retired teachers retained on payroll until they receive their pension.
