An age old adage recognizes that necessity is the mother of invention. This rings true for Zakaria Wanyaga a middle aged man from Gitimbene area in the outskirts of Meru town. His is a display of a unique talent born out of the need for an efficient and effective means of transport. Zakaria says, the idea was mooted, after he realized riding a bicycle requires extra energy while the cost of maintaining a motorcycle was untenable owing to the rising fuel prices birthing the design of a motorized bicycle. Our reporter Opicho Chemtai with details on Zakaria’s new invention that he hopes could open a new chapter in his life with the right support.
