UN replaces Kenya-led Haiti mission with new gang suppression force

The Kenya-led multinational security support mission in Haiti is set to officially come to an end after the United Nations Security Council authorized a new multinational gang suppression force (GSF) in Haiti to replace the Kenyan-led security support mission. The USA-sponsored resolution will see a 5,550-strong force work under an initial 12-month mandate, aimed at protecting vulnerable groups, supporting reintegration of former fighters and help strengthen Haitian institutions
