Farmers, businessmen and residents of Tana Delta, Tana River County are counting losses after floods wreaked havoc in the region. At least 11 villages in the Delta have been marooned with more than ten cargo trucks ferrying fresh farm produce stuck. According to a statement issued by the Kenya Red Cross Society, the heavy rainfall experienced over several parts of the country is expected to continue with at least 16 counties experiencing the effects with over 17,000 households affected and 18 displacement camps established. Neighbouring Tanzania has not been spared either with nearly 60 people reported to have died since the start of this month in heavy rains and flooding in several parts of the country. The Tanzanian government announced the death toll as heavy rains continued to lash the country.
