Kenya Power is set to invest ksh 258 million towards the promotion of e-mobility in the country. The investment will see the firm install at least 9 charging stations at its satellite branches at a cost of kshs 20 million by the end of July this year. This comes amid plans to approve the draft national e-mobility policy that was commissioned for public participation by transport cabinet secretary Kipchumba Murkomen. Stakeholders in the transport sector are reluctant to participate in the implementation of the policy citing high prices and maintenance costs of electric vehicles as well as the country’s instability in electricity supply.
