A ten - year - old boy was rescued by the National Police Service using a helicopter after he was marooned by flood waters in Nduani village,Yatta subcounty. The minor Mutuku Kioko was evacuated by the police chopper after several unsuccessful rescue attempts led by the Kenya Red Cross due to the ravaging flood waters caused by heavy rains.Meanwhile, travellers were stranded for hours when part of the Thika superhighway was submerged by floods at Kahawa Sukari area, heading towards Thika from Nairobi. The floods occurred after Kamiti river which flows between Kenyatta University and Kahawa Garrison barracks burst its banks as a result of heavy rains overnight. Elsewhere, the raging floods has rendered a section of Namanga road impassable after River Athi burst its banks today morning paralysing transport.
