Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya has raised concerns over delays in disbursement of county funds which he says might lead to stalling of projects in the county. Natembeya now wants the national assembly and the senate to strengthen the laws that will enable county governments receive funds on time. Governor Natembeya argues that over the years Treasury has been releasing county funds at the end of the financial year making it difficult for the county governments to utilise the funds which results in money getting returned to the national treasury. He said county governments have always faced huge wage bills, due to lateness in disbursement of funds from the national treasury and there is urgent need to address the issue for the smooth running of county government development projects and payment of staff.
