Kenya Kwanza leaders have defended the proposed finance bill 2024 to raise taxes in the budget, saying that it is the only way to ensure that the nation gets rid of a large debt and becomes independent. Speaking at a fundraising event for women groups at Tombo primary school, the leaders led by Farouk Kibett, the leader of the majority in the national assembly Kimani Ichungwa, his counterpart in the senate Aaron Cheruyiot, and dozens of parliamentarians who attended the event, they said that as a nation it is necessary to be independent and the only way to do that is to be taxed the leaders have said that they have also asked the opposition to stop politicking about the bill claiming that some leaders in the opposition have been deceiving Kenyans about the proposals, saying that all Kenyans will be involved in the entire process through public participation. __
