Thousands of Kenyans, especially the youth, turned up across the country to protest against the 2024 Finance Bill being debated by the national assembly. In defiance of police reluctance to grant permission for the demonstrations, young Kenyans in Uasin Gishu county came out in large numbers, bringing the north rift town to a standstill before police intervened later in the evening to break the demos. Similar scenes were replicated in Nakuru, Embu, Kirinyaga, Kakamega, Kisumu, and Thika in Kiambu, and Nyeri among other countries with a clarion call for legislators to reject the Finance Bill.
