The increased number of patients suffering from kala-azar disease in Baringo county has raised concern from a section of leaders in the county. Baringo County Chief Officer for Medical Services, Dr Winnie Bore says the rise of the disease has forced the county government to conduct blood donation fund drive to aid patients who need blood after contracting the disease. Our spot check revealed that as of 12th June this year, 100% of current admissions of patients were at Chemolingot Hospital. Kala-azar is one of the neglected tropical diseases that cause low blood in the body.
