Five people are nursing serious injuries following an explosion that occurred at a hotel in Mandera County Wednesday afternoon. Confirming the incident, Mandera County Police Commander Samuel Mutunga said the attacker placed a paper bag containing an improvised explosive device (IED) outside the hotel, before it was noticed by the workers shortly before it exploded, injuring five individuals, including some passersby. The injured were rushed to Mandera Referral Hospital for treatment as police kick off investigations.
