The Kenyan Gen Z movement came up as a means to hold leaders accountable, demand for change, and generally push for a better Kenya. The movement, despite the many positive changes it has spurred in its wake, has however not had a single identifiable leader. They have insisted on being “faceless, tribeless, and leaderless,” an assertion that even the President himself has admitted confuses him. Many are now starting to question whether, moving forward, this will work for or against them in the long haul. This panel discussion – by Gen Zs themselves – seeks to interrogate the advantages and disadvantages of having a leader for the movement.
