Kenyans have been urged to improve public health by ensuring they have enough toilets as one of the ways to fight jigger infestation in the country. Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni cited poor housing, poor personal hygiene and spending time in fleas infested areas as some of the major contributing factors for jigger infestation. Statistics from the ministry of health indicates that close to 1.4 million Kenyans are affected by jigger infestation.
