The Migori County government's health department has stepped up its surveillance efforts following reports of a suspected Monkeypox case in the region. The County has put more focus along the Kenya-Tanzania borders of Muhuru and Isebania even as they await laboratory results for the suspected case. According to the World Health Organization, MPOX cases in Africa are on the increase despite decreasing in other continents. Since January 2022 to June 2024, 99,176 cases and 208 deaths have been confirmed globally.
