The county government of Embu has attributed the expiration of drugs amounting to 7.9 million shillings at Embu level 5 hospital to the COVID- 19 pandemic. County Finance and Economic Planning Prof. Joe Kamaria who spoke amid sharp criticism facing the current administration over the expiration of the drugs, said the drugs in question expired in 2017 way before the current governor assumed office. Consequently, Kamaria stated that a committee has been constituted to ensure the expired drugs do not find their way to the public.
