Matatu operators in Kiambu County say they will boycott paying county government levies from the month of October to protest the huge number of unlicensed vehicles operating in public bus parks across the county.Speaking in Kiambu Town during a road safety awareness program, the county matatu chairman David Wang'ang'a said matatu operators need an interpretation of the traffic act in a court of law after attempts to reach the county governor Kimani Wamatangi were futile. The stakeholders now say the high number of unlicenced seven seater vehicles have brought an unfair competition and compromised their businesses while operating illegally.
