Stakeholders in the health sector have called for heightened public awareness campaigns on vaccine safety in a bid to improve understanding, foster confidence in vaccines and encourage uptake among people to curb the spread of diseases in the country.Speaking during the National Cohort Event Monitoring for Covid-19 vaccine forum in Nairobi, the stakeholders led by Dr.Bramwel Tongola from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, said misinformation and disinformation on the effectiveness of immunization largely contributed to reduced uptake of the various Covid-19 vaccines among Kenyans. They at the same time emphasized the importance of continuously monitoring the quality and effectiveness of health products in the country.
