Forty million people are facing starvation in the horn of Africa due to a record-breaking drought. The Intergovernmental Authority on development says 3.5 million Kenyans are in dire need of food calling on the government to scale up relief efforts in the affected regions. Sudan and Ethiopia are the worst affected countries with 10.6 and 8.1 million people respectively facing starvation. The food situation in the Horn of Africa has been exacerbated by the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine
