Four people were on Saturday killed in two separate bandit attacks in Samburu county, even as security agencies continue to enforce a month long curfew imposed in the area in mid February. According to locals, armed bandits laid an ambush on Marti village in Samburu North on Saturday night, killing two children before making away with over two hundred head of cattle. This comes after an earlier attack in Samburu West on Saturday afternoon, where two herdsmen were reportedly shot dead by armed bandits. And as Laura Otieno reports, the locals have accused security agencies of laxity arguing that the ongoing disarmament exercise is skewed, and could be behind the increased cases of banditry.
