Over 5,000 families on disputed Mavoko land in Athi River County, have petitioned President William Ruto to intervene, and stop planned eviction by the East African Portland Cement company. The locals, led by chairman Julius Mutua of the Aimi Ma Lukenya Society, called on the president to rescue them as they were living in fear, after East Africa Portland company issued an eviction order. The eviction which could have happened last month was differed, after local leaders objected to the move.
