A total of 578 cases of femicide cases were reported in the country during the year 2024, a spike from 535 reported in 2023. This is according to data tabled before the Senate by the Gender Cabinet Secretary Hannah Wendot of Gender at Senate on Wednesday. The statistics paint a grim picture of persistent Gender Based Violence related cases and institutional weaknesses in addressing the crisis.
